“Dylan was blessed as an athlete – a state champion from Jackson Hole High School and a proud University of Wyoming alumnus – but more than that, he was known for his kindness, compassion and big heart. His spirit touched everyone who knew him,” the PRCA wrote. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and everyone who had the honor of knowing Dylan.”
A Champion Both in and Out of the Arena
Grant’s rodeo career was on the rise. He earned his PRCA permit in 2018 and officially became a PRCA cardholder on February 14, 2024. A proud alumnus of the University of Wyoming, Grant had won the Mountain States Circuit Finals Rodeo bull riding championship in 2021, further solidifying his reputation as a talented rider.
The University of Wyoming also honored his memory in a statement, describing him as a “champion of life inside and outside the arena.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Dylan’s father, Wade, and his mother, Tiffany, during this unthinkable time. Dylan was a proud 2023 graduate, earning his degree in Physical Education Teacher Education. Dylan was a champion of life inside and outside the arena. Once a Cowboy, always a Cowboy,” the university said.
A Father’s Tribute to His Son
In an interview with ABC News, Dylan’s father, Wade Grant, shared details of the tragic accident. He explained that after Dylan was thrown from the bull, the animal stepped on his neck. Despite the severity of the injury, Wade described his son as “double tough” and said he immediately ran to the ambulance after the incident.
Wade also defended the sport, stating that such accidents are “very, very, very, very rare” and that what happened to his son was a freak accident. He and the family had always known the dangers of bull riding but emphasized that Dylan was living his dream.
The rodeo world has lost a bright young talent, and Dylan Grant’s memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His family, friends, and fans will continue to honor his legacy.
