BGT Winner Sydnie Christmas Goes Back to School Despite £250,000 Win
Sydnie Christmas, the powerhouse vocalist who captured the nation’s heart and won Britain’s Got Talent last year, is making an unexpected move—one that proves fame hasn’t changed her grounded approach to life.
At 29, and fresh off a £250,000 win, Sydnie could easily bask in the spotlight. But instead of chasing celebrity perks, she’s heading back to school to finish something she started long before the bright lights of BGT.
“I’m going back to school in March,” she told The Mirror. “I’m going to finish my Level 3 PT qualification. It’s good to have something, just in case.”
Before her life changed on national television, Sydnie was working at a gym in central London. Now, even after performing in front of King Charles at the Royal Variety Performance and earning a Golden Buzzer from Amanda Holden with her stunning rendition of “Tomorrow” from Annie, she’s choosing to finish her personal training certification.
She even shared a fun video from school on social media, showing fans that, despite her rising fame, she hasn’t forgotten her roots.
Sydnie’s choice to return to her studies reflects a thoughtful, practical mindset—one that stands out in an industry where many abandon their former lives after success. In a world as unpredictable as entertainment, Sydnie is building a safety net and staying grounded.
It hasn’t always been easy for her. Recalling a low moment just before her BGT audition, she shared:
“A week before my audition, I got off my first bus at 4 a.m., and there was sick on the back of my coat. It was rough.”
Moments like that make her journey all the more inspiring. From early morning buses to the Royal Albert Hall, Sydnie’s story is one of resilience, passion, and humility.
While her star continues to rise, her decision to keep learning—and to finish what she started—proves that her success is rooted not just in talent, but in hard work and heart.
