When a young man learned about his father’s death, he rushed to attend the funeral, where his stepfamily was waiting. While everyone was silent, the deceased’s dog suddenly started barking at the coffin, revealing a secret the young man’s stepmother had kept for seven years.
“I want you to know everything from the start, Lias,” Brandon said to his son over breakfast. “I can give you anything you want thanks to the fortune I’ve built, but I don’t want to spoil you.”
After losing his wife the previous year, Brandon raised his son alone. He had spent his life building a successful IT company. While he could have allowed Lias to live in luxury without effort, he wanted his son to work hard and eventually take over the business.
“I understand what you expect, Dad,” Lias smiled. “I won’t disappoint you.”
A few days later, Brandon met Susan, a single mother, at a party. They bonded quickly, their sons being the same age. Brandon felt understood by Susan and saw her as someone who could fill the void left by his late wife.
They began dating, and Brandon introduced Susan to Lias. However, Lias was suspicious of her. He advised his father to take time to get to know Susan better before making any decisions, but Brandon ignored him.
Two weeks later, Lias came home from university and was shocked to find Susan at the house, wearing a silk robe, and a boy his age sleeping in his bedroom. Brandon explained that Richard was his half-brother, Susan’s son. Lias refused to accept this new reality.
At dinner, Susan announced that she and Brandon were getting married soon. Stunned, Lias tried to express his concerns, but Brandon refused to listen and told him to focus on his studies.
Despite lavish gifts Brandon gave to Richard, Lias grew jealous and remained convinced that Susan only wanted Brandon’s money. A heated argument erupted between father and son, ending with Brandon kicking Lias out.
They lost contact for seven years until one day Lias received a call: Brandon had died. Surprised that Susan hadn’t informed him, Lias went to the funeral.
There, the dog barked furiously at the coffin. When Lias opened it, he found it empty. Susan then revealed that Brandon had disappeared seven years ago and she had arranged the funeral, believing he was dead.
Using the smartwatch he had gifted his father, Lias tracked Brandon to an old, abandoned house. Brandon explained he had hidden himself because of Susan, who betrayed him and only cared about his money.
Together, they devised a plan to get rid of Susan. Lias tricked her into signing papers renouncing any claim to Brandon’s estate. When she realized the deception, Brandon confronted her and forced her to leave.
Brandon and Lias then rebuilt their relationship and worked side by side to revive the family business.
