Every night, as soon as midnight struck, sounds began to be heard in the silence. At first, they seemed to be steps – sometimes to the right, sometimes to the left, sometimes as if behind him. But as soon as he went out with a flashlight – empty. Graves, crosses, stone slabs, and only the wind rustling through the trees.
A few days later, the footsteps were joined by sounds similar to a muffled knock or rustling, as if someone was fiddling with the earth. The guard sat in his booth, listening, and his heart involuntarily began to beat faster. Of course, he drove away thoughts of evil spirits, but the feeling of anxiety did not go away.
One particularly cold night, he poured himself some hot tea, sat by the window and listened. And again – those same strange, unnatural sounds. Not screams, not wind. As if someone was slowly, carefully picking at the earth.
He decided: this cannot go on.
The next day, the guard got out an old video camera, camouflaged it and installed it between the gravestones. He hid the wires so that no one would notice. Now everything that happened at night had to be recorded.

The guard could not believe his eyes. He was terrified not because they were ghosts, but because living people were capable of such things.
He collected all the recordings and took them to the police. At first, they didn’t believe him, they thought that these were just some teenagers who decided to have some fun.

A few days later, an ambush was set up at the cemetery at night. And the thieves really did return. They were detained right in the act, thanks to the watchman’s vigilance.
