My mother-in-law yelled at me in front of the guests, and then raised her hand from behind a poorly set table: but then I did something unexpected 😨😨
It was an important day – a wedding anniversary, to which we invited relatives and friends. I tried, ran around the kitchen, checked that everyone had everything they needed on the table. But as soon as the guests sat down, my mother-in-law entered the room. It was clear at first glance – she was not in the best mood.
She looked at the table, frowned and, without embarrassment to anyone, loudly declared:

– Is this how you greet people? Is this what you call a holiday? Look how crookedly everything is set!
The guests exchanged glances, silence hung in the room. I tried to smile and say something, but her screams grew louder.
– Is my son worthy of this? What kind of housewife are you? You’re embarrassing me in front of people.
I was barely holding back my tears, but then my mother-in-law lost her temper and raised her hand to me. Everyone gasped – no one expected that from her.

I was humiliated right in front of my loved ones. Tears came to my eyes, I covered my face with my hands so as not to scream.
But at that very moment, right in front of all the guests, I did something that I don’t regret. Serves her right. Continued in the first comment 👇👇
Something inside me clicked. I went to the table, took a large bowl of salad and, without saying a word, poured it right onto my mother-in-law’s expensive blue dress. I thought my family would blame me, but no.

A shocked gasp was heard in the hall, and then someone’s voice cut through the silence:
“You did the right thing!” my sister shouted. “You can’t humiliate people like that!”
“How much longer can you tolerate her bullying?” my husband’s brother supported me. “You’ve gone too far, Mom.”
My mother-in-law stood with salad on her dress, confused and pale. No one supported her. On the contrary, everyone began to take my side.

“We can clearly see how hard she tried,” my uncle said. “You’ve disgraced yourself.”
That was the first time I felt that the truth was on my side. And from that day on, my mother-in-law never dared to treat me like that again – because she knew that now I knew how to stand up for myself.
