At 90, Shirley MacLaine remains one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars, remembered for classics like The Apartment, Irma la Douce, and Terms of Endearment. Her career began in 1955 with The Trouble with Harry, and though she’s now mostly retired, she still speaks passionately about her lifelong love for acting.
MacLaine’s personal life, however, has been far from simple. After 28 years of marriage, she and producer Steve Parker divorced in 1982. Their daughter, Sachi Parker, spent much of her childhood in Japan with her father, leading to years of emotional distance between mother and daughter. In her memoir Lucky Me, Sachi revealed the loneliness she felt growing up apart from her famous mother.

Shirley has always been open about her unconventional marriage and even her romantic flings with co-stars — though she insists her relationships with Jack Lemmon and Jack Nicholson were purely platonic.
Today, living quietly on her ranch in New Mexico, Shirley enjoys peace with her dogs and a few close friends. Meanwhile, Sachi, now a mother herself, has turned her past pain into a lesson on building deeper family connections. Despite their complicated history, the bond between Shirley and Sachi continues to evolve with time and understanding.
