Born in Halifax, England, in 1991, Ed Sheeran grew up in a small village where he discovered music long before his teenage years. Inspired by Damien Rice, he began writing his own songs and recording simple EPs. At sixteen, he left school and moved to London to chase his dream. Life there was tough — hundreds of small gigs, endless rejection, and nights without a roof over his head. But his persistence never faded.
Ed uploaded one of his original, heartfelt songs online. By chance, it reached the ears of actor and musician Jamie Foxx, who was deeply moved. Foxx invited him to Los Angeles, offered him a place to stay, and opened the doors to his recording studio. That same year, Ed independently released his No. 5 Collaborations Project, an EP that surprisingly climbed to No. 2 on iTunes — all without a record label. The music world started paying attention.
