Elena finally receives a long-awaited promotion at work and comes home excited to celebrate with her husband Pavel. Instead of support, Pavel dismisses her success and announces—without asking—that his mother and sister are moving into their apartment. Elena is pushed out of her bedroom, expected to help with the move, cook, clean, and sacrifice her work, while Pavel fully sides with his family.
As the days pass, Elena is treated like a servant in her own home. Her achievements are ignored, her boundaries dismissed, and she realizes she is not seen as an equal partner. When she overhears her mother-in-law saying Elena was merely “allowed” to live there, everything becomes clear.
