Little Luna Wakefield is gravely ill, and doctors give her only three months to live. Her father, millionaire Richard, surrounds his daughter with the best doctors, expensive medications, and everything necessary, but it doesn’t help—Luna is withdrawn and barely speaks. Julia Bennett, a nanny with her own past grief, comes to their home and patiently and carefully tries to establish a connection with Luna. Over time, Luna begins to respond to Julia’s care: she smiles, asks for a story, holds a music box, and then says “mama” for the first time.
Julia gradually uncovers the dangerous and experimental drugs used on Luna, and together with Richard, they stop the dangerous treatment, ensure an investigation, and bring those responsible to justice. Gradually, Luna recovers, begins to learn, draw, and communicate, and Julia becomes her official adoptive mother. The story demonstrates the power of patience, love, and protecting a child from dangers that adults sometimes overlook.
