Clara had always opened the door for Ana. At first, it was only a favor: watching little Lucas during emergencies, helping when meetings ran late, stepping in when no one else could. But over time, those favors became an expectation.
Ana stopped asking and started demanding. She dropped Lucas off without warning, ruined Clara’s plans, and treated her kindness like an obligation. Even Clara’s husband, Daniel, made excuses for his sister instead of defending his wife.
One morning, Ana appeared at Clara’s door again, shouting that she had to leave for work. Lucas cried in the hallway, the phone kept buzzing, and the keys waited on the table.
But this time, Clara did not rush to open.
For the first time, she chose herself — and behind that closed door, the family finally understood that her patience had ended.
