It was an ordinary day. The driver of an intercity bus, as always, was following his usual route – a smooth asphalt road wound through a dense forest, small bushes ran along the sides, and the air was oppressively hot.
The passengers were dozing lazily, some were listening to music, some were reading, the road was calm, without incident.

But suddenly the driver noticed something strange ahead – two huge silhouettes were standing right in the middle of the road. He slowed down and squinted: an elephant and a small elephant. They were standing almost motionless, as if waiting for something.
As the bus got closer, the driver immediately realized that something was wrong. The adult elephant turned sharply towards the bus and began to rush along the road, sometimes running to the side, sometimes returning back.
She worked with all her paws, as if she wanted to say or show something. Her behavior was anxious… and aggressive.
The bus stopped. Some passengers started screaming, someone jumped out in panic. The driver thought that the animal might attack, because in the wild such situations are unpredictable. But then one of the men noticed something and screamed in horror 😱😱 Continued 👇👇

Everyone immediately froze. And the elephant, having made sure that people were paying attention, took off again and disappeared into the forest. The baby elephant ran after her.
No one understood what was happening. But the driver and several other concerned passengers decided to follow them – something in the animal’s behavior told them that this was not a fit of rage, but a cry for help.
After walking along the path about two hundred meters deep into the forest, they heard a muffled growl, sighs and the cracking of branches.
And then, in a small hollow, they saw something terrible: another elephant, probably a male, was lying on the ground, his leg was caught in a huge metal trap. The animal was bleeding and breathing heavily.
The elephant was standing nearby, blood was dripping from her trunk – she was apparently trying to pull the trap out on her own. But she was unable to.

The passengers reacted instantly. One of them called the nearest nature conservation center, others brought water, someone took a first aid kit out of a backpack. Forty minutes later, veterinarians and rescuers arrived.
The elephant was freed, given first aid, and later transported to a wild animal shelter. He was lucky – the wound was serious, but not fatal.
And the bus driver did not make it that day. Instead, he and the others became part of an incredible rescue story – a story where animals themselves came for help… to people.
