Luke Bryan Gives “American Idol” Contestant Colby Swift His Boots
Country music star Luke Bryan showed just how generous he is on a recent episode of American Idol, giving 19-year-old contestant Colby Swift a pair of boots after noticing that his own boots were worn out.
During Sunday night’s episode, Bryan spotted that both of Swift’s cowboy boots had holes in them. After asking the young singer to show the camera, Bryan casually asked Swift what size boots he wore.
“Well, I’m a 12D, and I’ll solve that little problem,” Bryan said, before surprising Swift by slipping off his own boots and handing them over. Swift, clearly taken aback, immediately swapped his worn-out boots for Bryan’s new pair.
“So Colby, those boots are made for walking to the next round,” Bryan joked, as the audience looked on in disbelief.
We just couldn’t let you keep walking in those boots, Colby… really amazing moment with @LukeBryanOnline 🥾👢#AmericanIdol #HollywoodWeek

This moment, captured on social media by radio personality Bobby Bones, left many viewers emotional, with Bones tweeting, “I was there when @LukeBryanOnline gave Colby his boots. had water in my eyes then. have it again now. and that’s real deal Luke. He’s not like that just on TV.”
Colby Swift’s Memorable American Idol Moment
Swift had already impressed the judges with his performance of Before the Next Teardrop Falls by Freddy Fender, earning a standing ovation from Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie. After the performance, Swift was overwhelmed with gratitude. “That was crazy,” he said. “I never thought I’d get a standing ovation, man. To have Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie stand up for me — it’s a blessing, man.”

The Texas native was clearly feeling the pressure of his first major public performance, admitting, “I never sang in front of a lot of people before. I ain’t never taken a day of voice lessons before in my life. I can’t sing like anybody else. I’m me — I’m Colby Swift — I ain’t trying to be like anybody else.”
Although Swift was eliminated later in the group round, his performance and Bryan’s heartfelt gesture left a lasting impression on fans and fellow contestants alike.
