Stanislav walked into the storage room without knocking. Olga was mopping the floor. He needed her for a business dinner—just to sit quietly and look respectable. Two hours. Good pay. She agreed because she had no choice.
At the restaurant, she was introduced as a distant relative. Invisible again. Until the lawyer asked her to read a clause aloud. She did—and calmly pointed out serious errors in the contract that could cost both sides millions.
The deal collapsed. Silence followed.
Later, Stanislav asked how she knew all this. Olga explained she’d spent twenty-two years teaching and working with archival documents before layoffs forced her into cleaning. She never forgot how to read carefully.
