Amanda Holden Shares Special Bond with BGT Winner Sydnie Christmas: “She’s Our Golden Girl”

Amanda Holden has revealed she has formed a close friendship with Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) winner Sydnie Christmas, even sharing holidays together. The 54-year-old judge, who has been a longtime supporter of Sydnie, shared the heartwarming details about their bond as Sydnie prepares for a highly anticipated return to the BGT stage.

A Surprise Return to the Semi-Finals

This weekend’s BGT semi-final promises to be an exciting one, with a twist in the usual format. Instead of airing daily episodes, show bosses have opted for live broadcasts each weekend, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats as the competition heats up. Among the standout contestants already confirmed for the grand final are Olly Pearson, Stacey Leadbeatter, Vinnie McKee, and The Blackouts.

But it’s Sydnie Christmas, the winner of BGT 2024, who will be making a special appearance during the semi-finals. Amanda Holden couldn’t contain her excitement, revealing that Sydnie’s stunning performances have continued to captivate audiences long after her victory.

Sydnie’s Golden Buzzer Moment

Sydnie, 29, first caught Amanda’s attention with her emotional performance of Tomorrow from Annie, which earned her Amanda’s Golden Buzzer. She went on to breeze through the semi-finals with her rendition of My Way, but it was her breathtaking version of Over the Rainbow that ultimately won the nation’s heart and secured her the £250,000 prize. Sydnie went on to perform for King Charles at the Royal Variety Performance, marking the start of her remarkable journey.

A Close Friendship Beyond the Stage

Amanda has become a close mentor and friend to Sydnie since her victory. Sharing an exclusive behind-the-scenes look, Amanda revealed the two have spent a lot of time together over the past year, including a memorable holiday in Corfu. Amanda and her celebrity friend Alan Carr were joined by Sydnie on an inflatable doughnut ride, which ended in laughter as Alan capsized, with the hilarious video racking up over 15 million views.

“I’ve spent lots of time with Sydnie over the last twelve months. She joined me and Alan Carr on holiday in Corfu and took us on the ride of our lives on inflatable doughnuts! The video has had over 15 million views as Alan capsized!” Amanda laughed.

A Proud Mentor

Amanda also shared how proud she is of Sydnie’s accomplishments, including her two sold-out shows in America. She expressed her excitement about Sydnie’s return to the BGT stage, calling her a “star” and “our golden girl.”

“She’s amazing, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for her,” Amanda added. “All of us will feel so proud watching Sydnie perform tonight. I feel like a proud BGT mum. I’m beyond happy for her, and all her success since appearing on the show.”

A Star with Humble Roots

Before her rise to fame, Sydnie worked at a central London gym and was determined to finish her Level 3 personal training qualification. Despite winning £250,000, she’s still committed to her education. In a previous interview, she revealed, “I’m going back to school in March. I’m going to finish my Level 3 PT qualification. It’s good to have something just in case.”
