For the past few days, the 70-year-old retiree had been unable to sleep peacefully in his old house. Every night, strange sounds echoed from under the porch—as if hundreds of tiny bodies were rustling on the ground, interrupted every now and then by a quiet, eerie sound, like a whisper.
That night, everything became unbearable. Around three in the morning, the man couldn’t take it anymore: he grabbed a flashlight and a shovel and went outside. He followed the sound. Approaching the porch, he found the spot where the sounds were coming from, knelt down, and shone the flashlight into the darkness.
His breath caught in his throat: the ground was strewn with hundreds of white-greenish oval objects, resembling large chicken eggs. Some were partially buried in the ground, others lay right on the surface.
What alarmed him most was that many of the eggs had begun to change color—dark spots appeared on the shells, as if something was moving inside. The old man picked up one with a trembling hand. It was warm and slightly damp.
“Oh, my God… what is this?” he whispered.

He barely had time to recoil when an angry hissing sound came from the darkness under the porch. A full-grown snake slithered out from under the boards—fat, long, with shiny scales. It suddenly raised its head, opened its jaws, and lunged at the man.
The old man nearly dropped the flashlight in terror. He swung the shovel and, without thinking, ran away. His heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would burst from his chest. Reaching the neighbors, he called 911.
