Britain’s Got Talent Winner Sydnie Christmas Calls for Greater Support for Young Reality TV Stars
Following the tragic death of former One Direction star Liam Payne, Sydnie Christmas—winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2024—has spoken out about the urgent need to better protect children thrust into the intense public spotlight by reality TV.
Sydnie, 29, who was working at a gym reception before her breakthrough, emphasized that while children should not be banned from TV or film, stronger support systems must be put in place to help them cope with the pressures of instant fame.

“I think everyone should have the chance to grow up in peace, whatever career they choose,” she said. Reflecting on her own journey, Sydnie explained that starting her career later allowed her to make mistakes away from the public eye—a luxury many young stars do not have.
“It’s too much pressure for people doing this in public… It’s a judgment that impacts you,” she added, highlighting the need for better safeguards to protect young talents’ mental health.
