Svetlana returns home earlier than planned and discovers that her husband, Sergey, has been spending time with another woman, Lada—not only behind her back, but openly, even introducing her to their young son and bringing her to his mother’s home. What hurts most is Sergey’s lack of remorse: he calmly admits the affair and says he was “testing” whether Lada would fit into the family.
Devastated but clear-minded, Svetlana confronts both her husband and her mother-in-law, who admits she stayed silent. When Sergey demands a share of Svetlana’s apartment after announcing the divorce, she firmly refuses—the home was hers before marriage.
The divorce goes through. Sergey gradually disappears from his son’s life, and his new marriage quickly falls apart. A year later, Svetlana sells the apartment, moves to Sochi with her child, and begins again—free from betrayal, pain, and control.
Key message: Betrayal can destroy a family, but it can also become the turning point that leads to strength, independence, and a new, peaceful life.
