“What nonsense…” the woman turned away, but her voice trembled.
He removed the edge of the diaper and froze. There was a mole on the baby’s tiny shoulder. Exactly the same as his. In the same place.
“Oh God…” his voice broke. “He has my mole. Is this my son?”
She covered her face with her hands. Her shoulders shook. And finally, barely audibly, she exhaled:
“Yes. This is your child.”
“Why were you silent? Why did you just disappear?” he spoke quietly, but pain sounded in every word.
