For several days in a row, our dog stubbornly dug the earth with his paws in the same place. At first we didn’t pay attention to it, but when we discovered what was hidden there, we were all shocked.

interesting to know

My husband and I settled into a small country house and lead a peaceful, well-paced life.

He works at the village dairy, and I take care of the house and our five-year-old daughter.

Everything was fine… until the day her mother came to visit us.

Our relationship has always been strained.

Sometimes she complains about my cooking, other times she thinks I’m raising her granddaughter badly, and sometimes she criticizes the mess in the house.
Her visits were usually short, and I tolerated them to maintain peace in the family.

But this time, she decided to stay for a week—”to rest and spend time with her granddaughter.”
I immediately tensed up—and I was right.

Almost every day, she reproached me.
She interfered in our conversations, slyly trying to sow discord between my husband and me. 😢😢

And then, one morning, something strange happened.

Pendant plusieurs jours d'affilée, notre chien a obstinément creusé la terre avec ses pattes au même endroit ։ Au début nous n’y avons pas prêté attention mais quand nous avons découvert ce qui y était caché, nous avons tous été bouleversés

Our dog, usually calm and affectionate, was very agitated this time.
For two days, he insisted on digging under the lilac bush—and what he found shocked us all.

I decided to go and see for myself what was attracting the dog’s attention.
Carefully, armed with a shovel, I began digging the earth… and I came across a small plastic package.

Inside, there were strange objects: a broken toy, a child’s tank top, yellowed photos.

Some of the photos showed my husband, me, and Sasha—but our faces were covered with strange symbols.

Andrei and I were shocked, but not scared.
On the contrary—for the first time in a long time, we had a real, sincere discussion.

We understood that even family members don’t have the right to disturb our peace.

We have the right to respect, to our personal space, and to live as we see fit.

From that day on, we set clear boundaries. We told my mother-in-law, calmly but firmly: visits would only be allowed with our consent, and for a short time.

As for the package, we simply threw it away, without trying to figure out why it was there.

Since then, Rex has become a true guardian of our home.
And we have found the most important thing: mutual respect and the strength to protect our world.
