Laine Hardy, a contestant on American Idol, took on the classic rock and roll anthem “Johnny B. Goode,” originally written and performed by the legendary Chuck Berry in 1958.
Despite the risk of being unfavorably compared to the original, Hardy’s performance proved to be a hit with the audience and judges alike.
While Hardy may not have the same moves as Chuck Berry, his rendition of the song captivated the American Idol crowd. Judges, especially Katy Perry, praised his performance, leading to a standing ovation from the audience and bows from all three judges.
Iconic song routines can be challenging for new artists, but Hardy certainly made it work. His ability to connect with the audience and deliver a captivating performance showed his potential as a rock and roll star. Check out the full video below and share your thoughts with us in the comments!
