The silence in the Vandermere mansion was deafening. Beatrice stood panting, her chest heaving with malice, having just screamed the most vile insults at Sarah. The staff looked down at their feet, terrified to intervene. Sarah wiped a single tear from her cheek, picked up the crumbled sonogram from the floor, and smoothed it out.
“I’m leaving, Beatrice,” Sarah said, her voice surprisingly steady. “But make sure you tell your son that he didn’t just lose a wife today. He lost the rights to this estate.”
Beatrice laughed. “You delusional girl. This house belongs to me!”
That’s when Mr. Henderson, the executor of the late Grandfather’s estate, stepped forward from the hallway. He had arrived early for the monthly audit and had witnessed everything.
“Actually, Madam Beatrice, it doesn’t,” Henderson said, his voice cold. “Your late husband’s will contains a ‘Bloodline Clause.’ The title of this estate transfers automatically to the mother of the first male heir upon conception. By evicting the carrier of the heir, you have legally abdicated your right to reside here.”
Beatrice’s face went pale as she looked at the sonogram Sarah was holding. It was a boy.
