Blake Shelton Makes His American Music Awards Performance Debut
On Monday, May 26, Blake Shelton performed live at the American Music Awards for the very first time. This year’s show was held at Fontainebleau Las Vegas and hosted by Jennifer Lopez. The star-studded event featured performances from Gwen Stefani, Gloria Estefan, Reneé Rapp, Benson Boone, Lainey Wilson, and, making his debut, Blake Shelton.
Gwen Stefani celebrated the 20th anniversary of her album Love.Angel.Music.Baby with a medley of hits including “Hollaback Girl,” along with a brand-new song from her latest album, Bouquet.
Though Shelton has won three AMAs during his career, this was his first time performing at the show. He won Favorite Male Artist – Country in 2011 and 2016, and Favorite Country Album in 2020 for Fully Loaded: God’s Country.
Not only did Shelton perform, but he also took on a presenting role at the event.

Blake Performed “Stay Country Or Die Tryin’” from His New Album
The AMAs announced on May 15 that Shelton would make his performance debut. He performed “Stay Country Or Die Tryin’,” a track from his latest album, For Recreational Use Only, released on May 9. The song was officially released as a single on May 19, following the success of “Texas,” which became Shelton’s 30th #1 hit on the charts.

Dressed with a red, white, and blue ribbon pinned to his shirt pocket, Shelton brought a genuine country spirit to the glamorous night. He closed his performance with a salute, pointing to the ribbon as a heartfelt tribute to the day’s significance—honoring fallen servicemen and women.
