Lidia unexpectedly inherited a spacious three-room apartment from a distant aunt. For her and her husband Konstantin, it meant freedom from rent and the chance to finally build a real home. They renovated the apartment together, moved in, and happily settled into their new life.
Soon, Konstantin’s mother began showing intense interest in the apartment. A week later, she arrived unannounced—with a suitcase—and calmly announced she would be living with them for a couple of months. She had given her own apartment to her younger son without asking Lidia or Konstantin.
Konstantin froze, unable to say no to his mother. Seeing this, Lidia took control. Calmly but firmly, she told her mother-in-law to leave. The apartment was Lidia’s inheritance, and no one had the right to move in without permission. Despite shouting and pressure, Lidia stood her ground and escorted her out.
Afterward, Konstantin apologized for his weakness. Lidia made it clear she didn’t need him to fight his mother—only not to take her side. They returned to their interrupted breakfast, relieved and united.
Lidia had protected her home and set clear boundaries. Their weekend—and their peace—was saved.
