Marina throws Alexey’s mother’s belongings into the hallway after yet another intrusion into their apartment. Alexey comes home to discover that his mother, Galina Petrovna, has been using spare keys, rearranging furniture, criticizing Marina, and claiming the apartment as partly hers. A heated confrontation follows, and Alexey finally sets firm boundaries: he takes back the keys and asks his mother to leave.
For two weeks there is silence. Then Marina, wanting peace, visits her mother-in-law with flowers. They talk honestly for the first time. Galina Petrovna admits her fear of losing her only son after being abandoned by her husband years ago. Marina explains that constant control will only destroy the marriage. They agree on boundaries and begin to rebuild trust.
Slowly, relations improve. Galina Petrovna comes for dinner, behaves respectfully, and even praises Marina’s cooking. The family isn’t perfect, but they learn to listen and respect each other. When Marina becomes pregnant, Galina Petrovna asks for forgiveness, and later becomes a caring, supportive grandmother.
In the end, they become a real family—not without conflict, but built on understanding, boundaries, and love.
