I stepped into a crowded elevator, and the “Overweight” warning flashed on the screen: other passengers had kicked me out, calling me fat, but then I did something unexpected 😲😲
Something unpleasant happened to me this morning.
I was supposed to go up to the 15th floor of an office building, where the elevator was old. Naturally, walking 15 floors would have been a real challenge for me. Honestly, I’m a plus-size woman, and as often happens, I sometimes have difficulty moving.
I stepped into the elevator, and there were already two men inside, a mother with a child, and a woman in her fifties. The doors were almost closed, but the elevator didn’t move. The warning flashed on the screen: “Overweight. One passenger must exit.”

Everyone immediately turned to me. No one said anything directly, but their looks spoke louder than any words: “You’re fat—get out.”
“Woman, maybe you could come out, we’re late,” said the elderly lady.
“I’m not a woman, I’m only nineteen,” I replied.
“Oh my God, to let yourself go like that at that age. Young lady, come out, you’re the one who’s overweight.”
“I’m in a hurry, I can’t go out,” I replied reservedly.
Then the men intervened:
“Well, you can see we’re waiting. Come out quickly!”
“Go up the stairs, it’ll be better for you.”
My patience snapped. And then I did something I never expected. 😢😲 I’m telling my story in the first comment, and you can share if you’ve ever experienced something similar. 👇👇
I sighed and pressed the “open doors” button.
“Okay, I’ll go out,” I said, stepping aside.
But, to everyone’s surprise, the elevator never moved. I looked at them and laughed:
“Oh, I see there are other fat people among you. So, who’s getting off now? Maybe you, Grandma?”
“I’m not a grandma, I’m only forty-five,” the woman snapped.
“I wouldn’t say that. You look old. Well, get out already; you’re holding people up with your extra weight.”
The woman snorted and exited the elevator. But again, silence. The doors closed, and the elevator didn’t move.
I was laughing loudly now, I couldn’t stop. One by one, they started getting off, thinking that was the reason. But the elevator still wasn’t working.
And only later did it become clear that it wasn’t me at all. The old elevator had simply been acting up for a while and this time it simply refused to move.
And I stood in the hallway, laughing so hard that everyone’s ears must have been hurting.
