Madonna recently shared a deeply personal account of a frightening health crisis, revealing that she believes she had a divine conversation during what she described as a “near-death” hospital stay. Last June, the singer faced a severe bacterial infection and spent several days in an intensive care unit.

In a performance in Los Angeles, Madonna recounted her experience, noting that her first word upon waking from a four-day induced coma was “no.” Reflecting on this, she interpreted it as a spiritual encounter. “It was pretty scary – obviously, I didn’t know for four days because I was in an induced coma, but when I woke up, the first word I said was, ‘No,’” she said. “I’m pretty sure God was saying to me, ‘You wanna come with us? You wanna come with me, you wanna go this way?’ And I said, ‘No. No!’”

The Material Girl expressed her gratitude to her doctor, who was in the audience during the show. She noted that the doctor had advised her to spend time in the sun as part of her recovery. “It was so hard for me to walk from my house to the backyard and sit in the sun,” she recalled. “I know that sounds insane, but it was difficult.”

Madonna also reflected on the challenge of not knowing when she would fully regain her strength and return to her former self. “It was a strange thing to finally not feel like I was in control. That was my lesson to let go,” she added.

She is currently in the midst of the North American leg of her world tour, which was postponed due to her health scare.
