For the past three months, every Saturday my husband would take our children and drive them “to grandma’s.” I didn’t mind. But there was something very strange about this story. My husband never invited me to come along, only saying:
— “I want to spend time alone with the kids. You relax and rest while we’re out.”
I was fine with that. It gave me time to focus on myself. But one day I found out the truth. They were already about to leave when my daughter came back for her jacket. Laughing, I called to her from the hallway:
— “Say hi to grandma for me!”
My daughter was shocked. She looked at me strangely.
— “Mom… what are you saying?” she whispered. “‘Grandma’ is a code word…”
I didn’t understand.

— “What code word?”
— “Dad told us not to talk about it…” she said and ran outside.
A code word? What is my husband hiding? And why are our children involved?
I immediately canceled my plans, grabbed my keys, and followed them. When I saw where my husband was taking the kids, I was horrified… 😱
My husband kept taking the kids ‘to grandma’s’ — until one day my daughter accidentally revealed it was all a lie
It soon became clear: they weren’t going to grandma at all. The car turned into a large city park. I stopped at a distance and watched as they got out and walked toward a bench, where an unfamiliar woman was standing with a teenage boy, about 14 or 15 years old.
And then I saw my husband approach the boy… and kiss him on the forehead. Our children immediately started playing with him like old friends.
I couldn’t stand by anymore.
I approached. My husband noticed me first — and he immediately understood by the look on my face.

— “I’m sorry… I wanted to tell you, honestly.”
It turned out that before meeting me, he had a serious relationship. The woman he was with left without telling him she was pregnant.
Only recently she contacted him, saying he had a son. At first he didn’t believe it, then he took a DNA test — and it was confirmed.
— “I didn’t know how to tell you,” he said quietly. “And I wanted our kids to meet their brother.”

It took me time. But now, after months, I understand — this is part of our new life. We will get through it.
