Elena is thrown out of her home by her husband and mother-in-law and must start over with her six-year-old daughter, Lucía. With almost no money, they find shelter in a workers’ residence near a factory, where kind strangers help them survive. Lucía’s hidden talent for drawing begins to shine, giving both of them hope.
Lucía wins a local art contest, earning a free place at an art school. At the same time, Elena rediscovers her own artistic skills and gets a job as an illustrator. Their lives slowly improve through hard work, solidarity, and creativity. Lucía later wins a national art competition in Madrid, and Elena is offered a contract to illustrate children’s books.
A year later, their success attracts attention nationwide. Elena and Lucía move into their own apartment, independent and confident. Eventually, Carlos, the father, returns remorseful and asks for forgiveness. Elena does not rush to decide, choosing stability and honesty instead.
