On our wedding night, I decided to surprise my husband and hid under the bed, but instead of my fiancé, my mother-in-law entered the room; she was sure the room was empty and began doing something that truly terrified me 😨😲
On our wedding night, I decided to surprise my husband. We had just returned to the honeymoon suite. A huge bed with snow-white linens stood in the middle of the room, the lamp on the nightstand bathed the walls in soft light, and the scent of flowers and champagne still lingered in the air. I hid under the bed, quietly laughing, imagining him coming in, calling for me, and shuddering when I crawled out screaming, “Surprise!”
I lay on the cold parquet floor, clutching the folds of my wedding dress to me. My veil was caught on a shoebox, my heart beating fast but joyfully. I tried to breathe as quietly as possible, so as not to give myself away prematurely.
The room door creaked. I expected to hear my husband’s familiar footsteps, but instead I heard the sharp, confident click of heels on the floor. I recognized those footsteps immediately. My mother-in-law entered the room.
She walked over to the bed and sat on the edge, so close that the springs creaked pitifully right above my head. I froze, afraid to even move. My mother-in-law took out her phone, put it on speakerphone, and said calmly, as if she were at home:
“Hello, dear, I’m already in your room. Where’s the girl? We don’t have time, we have to get going already.”
My husband answered almost immediately. His voice sounded cold and businesslike, completely different from before.
“Yes. I’ll be up soon too. She’s probably still in the shower or somewhere late. Don’t worry, Mom, everything will be as you wanted.”
I didn’t understand what they were talking about or why there wasn’t a hint of embarrassment in his voice. A sense of unease was growing inside me, but I still hoped it was some kind of misunderstanding.
A few minutes later, the door opened again, and my husband walked into the room. He noticed me almost immediately. I crawled out from under the bed, confused and pale, expecting an explanation or at least surprise.
And it was at that moment that my husband and mother-in-law did something that horrified me 😱😨 Continued in the first comment 👇👇
My husband sighed, looked at me, and suddenly said in a calm, almost official tone:
“Don’t be afraid. We have a tradition among our people. During the wedding night, the groom’s mother must be present in the room. It’s believed that this will help the bride conceive faster, and the family line will be fertile.”
I didn’t immediately understand the meaning of his words. His mother-in-law stood up and, as if confirming his words, pointed to a large closet against the wall.
“I have to hide there,” she said calmly. “I have to watch through the crack. That’s what our grandmothers did.”
At that moment, I became truly terrified. I looked at them both and suddenly realized that for them, this wasn’t a joke or a strange ritual from the past, but absolutely normal.
They had discussed it all in advance, planned it all, and didn’t even bother asking my consent.
I turned around silently, grabbed my bag, still wearing my wedding dress, and simply ran away from this crazy family.
