On the bus, the old lady kept glancing at the young man in the white tank top, her gaze fixed on the tattoos covering his arms. Then she would turn abruptly toward the window, muttering under her breath.

The young man, lost in the music through his headphones, seemed completely detached from everything around him. Neither voices nor glances reached him. But the old lady’s patience eventually wore thin.

The Confrontation

— “What has happened to today’s youth!” she exclaimed. “Why mark your body with such ugly drawings?”

The young man gently removed one earpiece and asked politely:

— “Madam, is something bothering you?” »

“Do you bother me?” she sneered. “With a body like that, you’ll never get into heaven. It’s a terrible sin! How can you treat yourself like that?”

“I haven’t done anything to you,” he replied calmly. “It’s my body, and I have the right to choose.”

But his calm words only annoyed her more.

Words That Fever

“Pff! In my day, young people didn’t speak like that to their elders!” snapped the grandmother, raising her voice. “Who gave you the right to talk back? Because of people like you, everything’s going to hell! Now, young people walk around decorated like demons! If your parents saw you, they’d be ashamed. With those drawings, you’ll never find a suitable wife. The Lord will punish you, don’t you see?” You will wander the world until you understand the weight of your sins!”

She crossed herself, shook her head, and grumbled:

“May your hands grow weaker if you dare to damage your body with the needle again! And may each new mark weigh heavily on your soul!”

The young man said nothing. He sighed and looked back out the window. The bus continued on, but the old woman wouldn’t let go.

“Oh, because of you, my blood pressure has risen! I’m glad I don’t have children like you. What a shame, there are no more young people in this world!”

The Sudden Turning

Suddenly, her face turned pale. She put her hand to her chest.

“Oh… I don’t feel well… I can’t breathe…” she gasped.

The passengers looked away: some pretended not to hear, others turned around. No one moved.

Only the tattooed young man took off his headphones and watched her closely. Then, in a soft but confident voice, he said something that froze everyone… Everyone was stunned. Continued in the first comment

— “Grandma… I’m a paramedic.”

Another side of him

The bus seemed to freeze, as if time had stopped.

The young man rushed to the old woman’s side. Calm, confident, without the slightest panic, he took off her thick scarf, unbuttoned the top of her sweater, and helped her breathe more easily.

— “Breathe regularly… stay calm… don’t panic,” he said softly, a far cry from the “ill-mannered boy” she had just described.

He moved like someone who had done this dozens of times. He took her pulse, carefully supported her to make her more comfortable.

“She’s having spasms, her blood pressure is unstable,” he said quickly, taking out his phone. “We need an ambulance right away.”

He gave the dispatcher the exact address, the bus route, and described her condition precisely.

“Hang in there, Grandma, the medics are coming,” he reassured her, looking her straight in the eyes. “I’m here, everything will be fine.”

The old woman, pale and trembling, slowly opened her eyes. For a moment, her gaze showed surprise, even embarrassment. She seemed to want to speak, but didn’t have the strength. She contented herself with a slight nod.
