The plane was getting ready to take off, there was the usual bustle of passengers around, when a woman with a boy of about six came up to me. I reminded her that I had bought my seat fairly and legally, and now I was literally being forced to give up what I had paid for. The woman immediately raised her voice, accusing me of selfishness and heartlessness: “He’s a child! You could have understood!”
