A man was hunched over his daughter’s cold gravestone, unable to accept the loss even after two years. The pain had never subsided. Suddenly, a boy of about twelve, dressed simply and accompanied by a small white dog, touched him on the shoulder. He assuredly said the girl was alive and asked for a personal item so the dog could track her scent.
At first it seemed crazy. The father reacted angrily: for him, his daughter was dead. But the boy began to share details no stranger could know: her favorite drawings, her games. This made him hesitate. The boy explained that he was looking for missing people and that his dog was trained to recognize scents even after a long time.
Despite his doubts, hope blossomed in the man’s heart. He remembered that he had never seen his daughter’s face at the funeral: the coffin was closed. He returned home, grabbed her favorite dress, and brought it to the boy. The dog reacted immediately: he had found a trail.
They began to follow the trail. After a while, they arrived in front of a shared house. In the courtyard were children’s belongings and drawings—one identical to the ones his daughter had made. The man couldn’t resist and entered.
In a room, he saw her: alive. The little girl recognized her father, but was confused—she had been led to believe he had abandoned her. It turned out that the mother had faked her daughter’s death, bribing doctors and falsifying documents. In reality, she had simply decided to leave her to start a new life.
The father took the little girl away. Later, the whole truth came out: forged certificates, an empty coffin, a lie constructed down to the last detail. The culprits confessed, and the mother lost all rights to her daughter.
Over time, life changed. The man not only found his daughter, but also welcomed the boy who had helped him. Their home became a place where other families are helped to find their loved ones.
The lesson was clear: even when all seems lost, it is worth seeking the truth to the end.
