The billionaire spots a poor little boy wearing his missing daughter’s necklace. What he does next shocks everyone…

Thomas M.’s world collapsed the moment his eyes fell on the small gold pendant hanging around the dirty neck of a street boy.

His hands were shaking so much he almost dropped his phone, and his heart started pounding as if he’d received an electric shock.

This necklace… it was impossible.

It had to be impossible.

“Sofia…” he whispered, saying his missing daughter’s name, feeling tears well up in his eyes for the first time in five years.

Thomas was returning from yet another frustrating business meeting when he decided to take a different route, driving through downtown Chicago. At 42, he had built a real estate empire valued at $300 million. But all his fortune had never allowed him to achieve what he wanted most in the world: to find his six-year-old daughter, who had mysteriously disappeared one afternoon during a walk in the park.

The boy was no more than ten years old.

He was sitting on the sidewalk, leaning against the red brick wall of an abandoned building, dressed in tattered clothes, his feet bare and injured. His brown hair was a mess, his gaunt face bore the obvious signs of malnutrition.

But it was this necklace that made Thomas’s blood run cold.

It was exactly the same one he had given Sofia for her fifth birthday. A star-shaped pendant with a small emerald in its center, custom-made by an exclusive jeweler in New York. There were only three of them in the entire world, and Thomas knew exactly where the other two were. He stopped his Bentley abruptly at the curb, ignoring the angry honking behind him.

His steps were hesitant as he approached the boy, who was staring at him with wide, fearful eyes—like a wounded animal ready to flee at any moment.

“Hello,” Thomas said, trying to control his voice, though his inner turmoil shone through.

“That necklace… where did you get it?”

The boy huddled further against the wall, clutching a dirty plastic bag that seemed to contain all his belongings. His blue eyes—uncannily similar to Thomas’s—watched him with suspicion mixed with fear.

“I didn’t steal it,” he whispered hoarsely. “It’s mine.”

“I’m not saying you stole it.”

Thomas slowly knelt down, trying to appear less threatening.

“I just want to know where it’s from. It looks a lot like someone I used to know.”

For a moment, something flashed in the boy’s eyes—recognition, or maybe just curiosity. He instinctively reached for the pendant, as if it were a protective talisman.

“I’ve always had it,” he replied simply. “For as long as I can remember.”

The words hit Thomas like a punch to the stomach.

How was that possible?

His rational mind refused to believe the crazy thoughts that were beginning to form.

The boy was about the right age. His eyes were the same color.

And that necklace…

“What’s your name?” Thomas asked, his voice trembling.

“Alex,” the boy replied after a moment. “Alex Thompson.” »

“Thompson” wasn’t the name Thomas expected to hear. And the way the boy said it seemed… forced. As if it wasn’t really his.

“How long have you been living on the streets, Alex?”

“A few years,” he replied vaguely. “Why do you ask all these questions? Are you a cop?”

Thomas shook his head, but inside, his mind was churning…
