Another ten minutes passed, and the son stopped the car in the middle of a deserted road. He helped his parents out and said,

The son got out, examined the windshield, and tried to start the engine again, but it only made a short, alarming screech. The daughter called someone, but the connection was lost—the mobile network was always unstable on this road. The wind picked up, and the temperature dropped rapidly.
The elderly parents, still standing by the side of the road, realized that in such a place, help might come too late. At that moment, the father opened a small bag and pulled out a thick, sealed envelope they had been carrying with them for a long time.
Inside were documents confirming their ownership of a plot of land in the area, as well as a contract for the upcoming sale—and the sum was considerable.
The road the children had driven them along led precisely to this plot. The car stopped right at the entrance—near a barely noticeable sign, which the children likely didn’t even notice.
Upon learning the truth, the children immediately tried to reconnect with their parents, pretending that everything had been a joke, a test. But the parents, not believing this lie, realized they were trying to deceive them again.
They chased the children off the property, telling them to forget the way to this house and live like unworthy children.
