The couple called the police early in the morning, barely light. The woman’s voice was shaking as she tried to explain to the officer on duty that “something was living” in their sofa.
“It was moving… and scratching,” she insisted. “At first we thought it was noise from the street, but the sounds were coming straight from the sofa!”
The police officer decided to go to the call with a dog handler and a dog. What if there really was something there?
When they entered the living room, the couple were already on guard: a man in a wheelchair was holding his wife’s hand, and she looked like she was about to scream. There was a tense silence in the room.

Several gray bodies slid out of the gap. They were rats – huge, with shiny eyes. They scurried across the floor, and the dog furiously rushed after them.
But the worst thing was inside. When the policeman tore the upholstery further, everyone saw: a real hole had been made in the voids of the sofa.
A whole family was swarming there – dozens of rats, with newborn babies, balls of gray bodies that twitched and squeaked.
– “How did they get in there?..” – the man in the stroller whispered, turning pale.
The dog barked and tried to grab the rats, but the officer pulled her away. He himself, although he had seen a lot, was also amazed by the scale. The sofa where the family had sat for years, watched TV, received guests, turned out to be a breeding ground for a living nightmare.
The woman could not stand it – her hands began to shake, and she almost screamed:
– “We were sitting ON THIS?!”
