This morning I was walking down the street and noticed a little girl of about five or six years old. She was standing near a trash can and crying loudly.
The tears were rolling down her cheeks so hard that she could barely breathe between sobs. Her lips were trembling, she was repeating the same word:
— Mom… mom-a-a…

I came closer, thinking that it was all about the toy she had thrown away. I saw a teddy bear with a torn off ear in the trash can nearby. It was probably old, her parents decided to throw it away, and the girl felt offended.
I sat down next to her and spoke softly:
– Little one, are you crying over a toy? Well, you shouldn’t, it’s old. Your parents will buy you a new teddy bear, even prettier.
But the girl shook her head sharply and said through her tears:
– No… I’m not crying over a toy.
Then she cried harder. The girl repeated several times:
– Mom… mom… mom
I became wary.
– What happened then? How can I help you?

She hesitated, as if she was afraid to say too much, then whispered:

I frowned, not immediately understanding her words. I asked carefully:
– What do you mean “mom is there”? Where is your mom?

My blood ran cold. Without a second thought, I took out my phone and called the police.
When the police arrived, they carefully began to check the dumpster. And what they found shocked everyone – there really was a woman lying inside. She was unconscious, but fortunately alive.

Later it turned out that there was a quarrel in the family that evening. The husband, unable to cope with his emotions, pushed his wife, and she fell, hitting her head.
He decided that she was dead, and in a panic, he tried to cover his tracks by throwing her body into the dumpster. But he didn’t take into account the most important thing – their little daughter saw all this.
And it was she, despite her fear, who told the truth. Thanks to her courage, the woman was saved in time.
