As my husband and I were driving home, we were suddenly stopped by a police officer and my husband was taken into custody. What happened next shocked everyone.
That day the sun was merciless – 36 degrees, and there was not even a slight breeze.
The asphalt nearby was melting underfoot like glass. On this hot asphalt, my 72-year-old husband was lying face down, with handcuffs on his hands, and his knees were burned by the hot asphalt when the police detained him.
The police reacted to my husband’s motorcycle so quickly, as if he had just committed a crime.😨😨
At first, when they put him on the hot asphalt, I thought they had hearts of stone – how can you put an elderly person on hot asphalt in such heat?
But when the policeman explained to my husband the reason for the arrest, I understood the whole logic of their actions and was simply shocked with surprise.

I stood a few steps away, my heart clenched with pain and anxiety. The hot asphalt seemed to pulse under my feet, reflecting the sun back, blinding me.

My husband tried to turn around, but the handcuffs did not allow him to move, and I saw how his breathing became intermittent.
Suddenly, the policeman, the one who explained the reason for the arrest, came up to me and quietly said: “I understand that this looks cruel, but we have to act quickly.
This is related to the safety of others.”
His voice was even, but his eyes… his eyes betrayed hidden concern.
My husband tried to say something, but the words got stuck in his throat. I leaned closer and heard him say in a trembling voice, “I just needed to adjust the brakes on my motorcycle…”
And then I understood: it was a test, an instant reaction to prevent possible danger.
But my heart still sank, seeing the hot asphalt leaving marks on his knees.
When the police finally removed the handcuffs and helped my husband up, I hugged him tightly, feeling his body trembling not only from the heat, but also from the tension.
And in that moment, I realized that even in the most shocking situations there is room for understanding and surprise – but human cruelty and compassion often go hand in hand, sometimes in the most unexpected ways.
