Was an office worker: 560+ piercings and horns!

interesting to know

Looking at Rolf Buchholz today, it’s hard to believe that he was once an ordinary office worker. Born in Dortmund, Germany, Rolf received a degree in telecommunications and spent many years working in a large IT company. He was quiet, almost invisible. Yet deep inside lived a desire for freedom, self-expression, and breaking stereotypes.

His first tattoo appeared when he was already over forty. Later came his first piercing. Then another. That was the beginning of a journey that would eventually lead him to a world record. Today, Rolf has more than 560 piercings on his body, including over 170 on his face and 278 in intimate areas. His appearance is further marked by a split tongue, subdermal implants shaped like horns on his forehead, and a body almost entirely covered in tattoos. All of this earned him a place in the Guinness World Records as the man with the most body modifications.

But for Rolf, it’s not just about records or attention. He says that body modification is a form of freedom, a kind of art he wears on himself. According to him, he hasn’t become a different person — he has simply allowed the world to see his true inner self. And indeed, behind the intimidating appearance is an intelligent, kind, and humorous man. He speaks calmly, smiles often, and is easy to approach.

His look evokes strong and polarized reactions. Some see him with admiration, others with disgust or even fear. In 2014, he was even denied entry to Dubai, officially for “security reasons.” According to Rolf, airport security suspected him of being… a black magician.
