😨😮 We freed a squirrel’s paw from a tree crack, but upon seeing what it had pulled out, we immediately took both the squirrel and the find to the police.
My husband and I were walking in the city park on a sunny day when a strange noise near an old oak tree caught our attention. A squirrel’s tail was twitching on the trunk. Coming closer, we saw that the squirrel had stuck its paw in the crack and couldn’t get it out. It twitched and scratched, but to no avail.
At first, we thought it was just an accident. My husband carefully helped the squirrel, freeing its paw. It seemed like the squirrel should now scurry up the branches.
But instead, it stuck its paw back in the same crack! And got stuck again. We helped again. And again… The squirrel seemed obsessed with what was hiding inside.
Finally, after another desperate attempt, it pulled its paw out—but not only that. A strange object gleamed in the squirrel’s claws.
😵😲Seeing this, we immediately took both the find and the squirrel to the police.

Finally, after another desperate attempt, she pulled out her paw—but not only that. A strange object gleamed in the squirrel’s claws.
At first, we thought it was a nut. Small, round, with a grayish coating… But upon closer inspection, I froze: it wasn’t a nut at all, but a stone. Heavy, with a deep shine inside, it looked frighteningly valuable.
Seeing this, we immediately grabbed both the find and the squirrel—and drove straight from the park to the police. Otherwise, no one would have believed such an incredible story.
At the station, the officers listened to us with amazement. One of them exchanged glances with his partner and said, “A jewelry store was robbed last night. A shipment of precious stones has gone missing.”
The police immediately went to the exact spot in the park. When they opened a crack in the trunk of an old oak tree, they found a scattering of stones wrapped in rags. It turned out that the thieves, fleeing pursuit, had hidden their loot in a crevice in the tree, planning to return later.
But their plan was foiled by a small resident of the park, a squirrel, who, guided by its instincts, decided to retrieve the “nut.” Thus, it became an unwitting hero—and helped solve the crime.
