Alena marries Dmitry and hopes to start a new life, but soon after moving in together, he quits his job without warning. Because of money problems, they move in with his mother, who constantly criticizes and humiliates Alena. Dmitry does nothing to protect his wife and continues avoiding work.
After months of pressure and one final argument, Alena realizes she is carrying the entire burden alone. She leaves, returns to her parents, and decides to divorce. Despite Dmitry’s apologies, she understands it is better to leave early than suffer for years.
The story shows that self-respect is more important than saving a marriage where there is no support, responsibility, or respect.
