Zoya’s family pressures her husband, Timofey, to pay for her sister Milana’s wedding, using guilt and the phrase “we’re family.” Timofey refuses, pointing out years of disrespect and manipulation. Zoya ultimately supports her husband and leaves with him, choosing their marriage over toxic relatives.
Later, Milana’s fiancé turns out to be a con artist who steals money and leaves her with debt. The parents are forced to sell property to fix the situation. Over time, Milana starts working, the family calms down, and Zoya realizes that real family is built on respect, not financial pressure.
