When Artem’s laptop suddenly disappears the night before his final project defense, panic fills the house. The laptop holds six months of work, and without it, Artem risks being expelled from his programming course. His mother, Olga, quickly realizes the truth: her husband Viktor secretly pawned the laptop to buy a new fishing rod, alcohol, and supplies for a trip with friends.
Viktor shows no regret. He mocks Artem’s dreams, calls programming useless, and insists he has the right to sell anything in the house. For him, his own pleasure matters more than his son’s future. When he proudly shows off the expensive fishing rod bought with the pawn money, Olga finally snaps and breaks it in half.
The confrontation explodes. Viktor threatens, insults, and demands obedience, but Olga stands her ground. She throws him out of the apartment, takes his keys, and ends the marriage on the spot.
After he leaves, Olga acts immediately. She sells Viktor’s spare tires, tools, and her own jewelry to raise money. That same night, she plans to buy back the laptop so Artem can finish his project.
