Last winter, something very strange and simultaneously terrifying happened to me. That’s when I realized: never again in my life would I stop to help elderly people on the street.

One night during a snowstorm, I spotted a lonely old woman on the street and decided to help her get home: but she started smiling creepily, and then did something terrible

I was returning home after a long shift. It was around eleven o’clock at night. I was very tired, all I wanted was to go to bed. A real snowstorm was raging outside: snow was flying in my face, frost was freezing the windows, the wind was howling, and visibility was terrible. The roads were almost empty—no people, no cars.

Ночью в метель на улице заметила одинокую бабушку и решила помочь ей добраться домой: но она начала жутко улыбаться, а потом сделала кое-что ужасное

And suddenly, near an intersection, I noticed a figure. There stood a lonely old woman—about seventy, maybe more. She was wearing an old coat and headscarf, and she looked so lonely, sad, and frozen that my heart sank.

My first thought was that she was probably waiting for a car or lost. But her gaze… it was tired, as if dull. I felt sorry for the old woman, and decided to stop.

I slowly rolled down the window and quietly asked:

“Grandma, do you need help?”

One night during a snowstorm, I noticed a lonely old woman on the street and decided to help her get home. But she started smiling creepily, and then did something terrible.

She didn’t answer. She just looked at me with an empty, anxious gaze. It made me uneasy. Frightened by her gaze, I rolled the window back up, and at that moment I noticed something terrible: Grandma suddenly smiled—strangely, coldly, almost frighteningly. But she wasn’t smiling at me.

Her eyes were fixed on the intersection through my car window. I turned around and saw what my grandmother was staring at. It was pure horror. I miraculously survived that day 😱😱 Continued 👇👇

Two strong men stood on the street corner. They held bats in their hands. They were looking straight at me, like predators ready to pounce.

One night during a snowstorm, I noticed a lonely grandmother on the street and decided to help her get home: but she started smiling creepily, and then did something terrible.

And then I understood everything. This grandmother was just bait. Bait for people like me—trusting people who stop to help. I can’t even imagine how many more kindhearted drivers fell into this trap…

My heart was pounding, I floored the gas and drove away before they could get any closer. I’m lucky to be alive.

Since then, I no longer believe in random encounters on empty roads at night.
