Jamie Lee Curtis expressed deep sorrow over the passing of her close friend, Richard Lewis, who died at the age of 76 from a heart attack. Known for his roles in “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and the sitcom “Anything But Love,” which he starred in alongside Curtis from 1989 to 1992, Lewis left a lasting impact on her life.
Curtis shared her grief on Instagram, posting nostalgic photos and a heartfelt message. She credited Lewis for playing a pivotal role in her sobriety journey, stating, “He’s the reason I am sober.” Curtis recounted seeing a billboard for one of his stand-up specials on Sunset Boulevard during the casting process for “Anything But Love.” She was impressed by his humor and chemistry, which led to his casting in the show as Marty Gold, her character’s best friend and potential love interest.
Reflecting on their time together, Curtis described Lewis as a talented comedian who, despite his discomfort with live performances, delivered deep and humorous performances.
They shared many personal moments, including grieving the losses of their co-star Richard Frank and producer John Ritter. In one of his last messages to her, Lewis expressed hope that Curtis could persuade ABC/Disney to release another boxed set of the show’s episodes
