Elena froze in front of the closet. Her new shearling coat was gone. The one she had saved for months, skipping small pleasures just to afford it.
Her husband Igor explained casually: his mother had tried it on and liked it, so he gave it to her. He told Elena not to be “selfish” — she could always earn more.
That moment broke something inside her.
This was not about a coat. It was about boundaries. About respect. About years of being silent while her mother-in-law controlled their life — and Igor allowed it.
For the first time, Elena did not stay quiet. She made it clear: either the coat comes back, or the marriage ends.
Igor tried to convince his mother. She refused. Elena filed for divorce.
