Irina meets Andrey at a company party, and their relationship develops quickly. He seems caring, supportive, and respectful. They get married and move into Irina’s apartment, which she inherited from her grandmother.
At first, married life feels happy, but after several months Andrey gradually stops helping around the house. He works from home, spends his free time watching football and playing games, and leaves all household chores to Irina, who works long hours at the office. When she asks for help, he insists that housework is “a woman’s duty” and constantly compares her to his mother, who never worked and fully served the family.
Irina becomes exhausted, emotionally drained, and realizes she has turned into a maid rather than a partner. After a final argument over a filthy kitchen and Andrey’s refusal to clean up, she reaches her breaking point and tells him to leave.
Irina files for divorce and feels relief instead of regret. Despite Andrey’s attempts to manipulate, guilt-trip, and pressure her into returning, she stays firm. After the divorce, Irina regains peace, confidence, and happiness, realizing that leaving a toxic marriage was the best decision she could make.
The story ends with Irina living freely, calmly, and on her own terms.
